Water Hauling Services in Hydraulic Fracturing

In the oilfields, a massive amount of water fluid such as saltwater is produced during extraction. As this is the waste fluid, there is a need to remove and dispose of it. Several other functions require water, but due to its unavailability in all the areas, the need for water hauling services arises.

Water is used for extracting oil from cracks and pores in conventional fields. It's another use is in washing equipment and dust control. Not just this, water also plays a role in hydraulic fracturing for extracting crude oil and natural gas.

Hydraulic Fracturing

Increasing the production of a well is a critical component of the exploration of the oilfield. Since 1949, hydraulic fracturing became a part of the oil industry. Before that, either nitroglycerin  detonations or dynamite were into use.

However, today, the majority of oil and gas wells in the United States use hydraulic fracturing. Apart from improving the performance of the well, it lessens drilling and retrieving inaccessible resources.

Rise of Oilfield Water Hauling

With the constant rise of hydraulic fracturing in oil and natural gas, water hauling has become an essential part of the oilfield industry. Water is used in the beginning process of drilling and the next fracturing process. Water mixed with other chemicals and clay is transported and delivered by water hauling trucks, which is used for carrying shale pieces for disposing of.

The water hauled also plays a critical role in lubricating, as well as cooling the drill bit. Water is injected into shale with high pressure, which creates several thin cracks in shale fracturing. It releases trapped sources of petroleum and natural gasses. Water trucks haul these supplies, which deposit the loads in tanks for storing before using them.

Equipment Used for Water Hauling

Tank Trailer

Typically, Tank Trailers are made up of aluminum or stainless steel and carry 6000-7000 gallons of the liquid tank. They have two-to-four single or divided compartments.

Pump and Compressors

The use of pumps and air compressors is to load and unload water. With a hose, the air compressor blows the compressed air. Pump, on the other side, is used for transferring water.

Final Thoughts

Water hauling services have become an essential part of the functions of the oil and gas industry. In addition to this industry, it has several other uses, such as putting off fires, emptying septic tanks, and the list goes on. Not just this, the companies offering these services have trained and certified drivers with whom they can ensure safe and secure delivery.
